The House of Chanel (Chanel S.A.) originated in 1909, when Gabrielle Chanel opened a millineryshop at 160 Boulevard Malesherbes S.A. is the French house under the high fashion brands that specializes in haute couture. In 1983 Karl Lagerfeld took over as chief designer for Chanel. He changed Chanel's fashion lines from the old lines to shorter cuts and eye capturing designs. During the 1980s, more than 40 Chanel boutiques opened worldwide.After the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art and the National Art Museum of China, the Culture Chanel exhibition will move to the Guangzhou Opera House - designed by architect Zaha Hadid - from 16 January to 3 March 2013.
Jean-Louis Fromont, exhibition curator, said at a press conference that the first Culture Chanel exhibition is based on the great landmarks of the biographical sequences Gabrielle Chanel, who gave birth to a whole style.
